Abstract: | The surface of ethylene-propylene and styrene-butadiene rubber vulcanizates were treated with the mixture of metal chloride and amine compounds as an auto-oxidation catalyst. The degree of the surface roughness and the functional group on a surface after treatment were analysed by the microscope and X-PS (ESCA), respectivly. When the combination of cobalt, cupper or iron chloride and phenylhydrazine were used, carbonyl, carboxyl and hydroxyl groups were found on the rubber surface and adhesive strength showed about 10 times that of the nontreated rubber. |
