Abstract: In recent years, the voltage stability which is caused by the increase of voltage independent type of load and the insufficient of reactive power supply at long-distance transmission lines has been watched. In this paper, I build a model system which assumed bulk power systems and analyze the time transition of power systems voltage with the P-V characteristics on the load bus. Then I run after the process that leads to voltage collapse by the transition of operating point of bus voltage on the P-V curves. Especially, I take notice of the reactive power supply restrictions in generators and investigate that the restrictions have an effect on the system voltage on the P-V curves. As a result, the model system led to voltage collapse caused by reactive power in generators get to the restriction in the severe case of load increase and line trip. In order to avoid the voltage collapse, I indicated that SC individual control and preset SC are effective.
