| Abstract: | In this study, plain and steel fiber reinforced concrete walls were tested to clarify the cracking behavior due to the drying shrinkage of concrete from the approach based on a fracture mechanics. Following results were obtained : 1) The volume fraction of steel fiber in a concrete is controlled exactly by the fabrication method used in this experiment. 2) A steel fiber is effective in order to improve the ductility of concrete after the crack opening. The stress release by the shrinkage cracking is very affected by the kind of concrete. 3) The effect of kind of concrete on the cracking behavior due to the drying shrinkage of concrete can be explained rationally as a result of the difference of fracture energy. |
