Abstract: In rolling of gears, the number of teeth and the tooth thickness of rolled piece are often not up to our expection. Setting positions of the rack tools for the full-form rolling of involute gears were investigated experimentally by rolling the workpiece (module 1.5,pressure angle 25°, number of teeth 28 and whole depth 2.7mm). As the result of examination of rolled surface, next matters were revealed. In precise division of gear blank, the relative position between the top flank of tool and the rolling radius of work piece was the principal problem. And the tooth thickness of rolled profiles were greatly affected by the product error in tool profiles and the elastic deformation of apparatus. Then, the desirable setting position of the rack tool was decided and the expected quality gears in the full-form rolling were obtained certainly.
