抄録: | It has already been pointed out that natural sand deposits have much strength anisotropy due to initial fabric of parallel alignment of particles, though it is still not clear how such strength anisotropy is related with the bearing capacity of foundation. In the analysis of bearing capacity of anisotropic sand deposits, it should first be required to understand mutual relationship between directions of anisotropy, maximum principal stress and slip surface. This paper concerns, firstly with the development of slip surface in sands with fabric anisotropy in plane strain compression tests, and secondly with the effects of strength anisotropy on the bearing capacity of strip foundation. Some characteristic remarks were drawn on the analytical results of bearing capacity of sands with different directions of anisotropy, and qualitatively good correspondence was attained between the measured and calculated values. |
