| Abstract: | Traditional food has multiple functions in our social life and it has formed the foundation of our cultural life. This paper presents a case study of Shilanqiao village, Tongxiang city of Zhejiang Province, China. From the findings of the fieldwork conducted in this area, this paper aims to portray the glutinous rice culture by focusing on how the people cook, eat and distribute glutinous rice products. It will also discuss the function of the glutinous rice culture in expressing relations between people, ancestors and gods within the local community. |
