日本語文副詞の研究 : その一

Abstract

We would like to study sentence adverbs in Japanese from the point of view of the Minimalist Program. Cinque(1997) proposes numerous functional categories to deal with many kinds of sentence adverbs on the basis of the symmetry with those of auxiliaries. Alexiadou(1997) also proposes many functional categories on the basis of Greek sentence adverbs. Nakau(1980) classifies sentence adverbs in Japanese into many types. In this article, we would like to explore how many types of sentence adverbs are necessary in order to explain the scopal difference among them on the basis of adverbs in Japanese. After examination, we would like to propose a theoreical analysis for treating sentence adverbs in general. We hope that our analysis about sentence adverbs will become a productive research in the linguistic theory.
