Abstract

The Youth Hostel movement in Japan has remarkably developed in recent year. The total of the membersip in Japan Youth Hostel Association is the largest in the world. But the development was so rapid that there are many problems in it. These problems are as follows: (1) The spirit of Youth Hostel movement is not enough understood (2) The present condition of Hosteling in Japan is almost the same as the sight-seeing travel. (3) The private Hostel of Japan Youth Hostel association is very few. And everybody can use the public Youth Hostel that the local public corporation establishes, even he is not the member of Youth Hostel association. So there must be some troubles. I researched these problems in five Youth Hostels. So I inform its result in this report.
