Abstract: Lightening of high-strength porcelain body was achieved by introducing isolated pores with the aid of released oxygen gas from CeO_2 at high temperatures. Pore volume can be controlled through the addition of CeO_2 powders to ceramic bodies followed by subsequent thermal decomposition. Released oxygen gas at high temperature was trapped as small pores in body during heat-treatment from 1200 to 1350℃.
