Abstract: The polymerization of methylmetacrylate (MMA) was carried out in carbon tetrachloride and methylethylketone solution, using the following substances as an initiator such as benzoyl peroxide (BPO), 2,4-dichlorobenzoylperoxide(2, 4-DCBPO), α, α'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN), under pressure of 4~8 kg/cm^2; and then this investigation is concerned on how the yields of polymers and the degree of polymerization are influenced to the factors of the mole ratio of solvent vs MMA, reaction pressure and initiator concentration. The oligomers obtained were white or pale yellow powder whose degree of polymerization were 8~40 by means of ebuliometric method and quantitative analysis of their terminal groups. The structure of these polymers is estimated to have 62~85% syndiotacticity according to the usual I. R. spectra technique.
