大学生の居場所に関する研究 : ―居場所のなさに着目して―

Abstract

It is often said nowadays students want “a place of their own” to express themselves and communicate freely with peers. It is certain so far that that's the proper space for them to be themselves. However, it is not yet clear how we can support them to seek such place when they move to the new environment and lose their place. To explore the process they found their place, we investigated the feeling states they experience upon losing their place and the way of dealing with loss of their place. Two hundred fifty three undergraduate students participated in this study. We conducted this survey in the form of a questionnaire, which consisted of three parts. First, we asked them to recall and report the most vividly retained experience of losing place in their life. Second, we asked them how and when they settled into campus life. Third, we asked them to recall some typical situations of losing place and report how they coped with such situations. Based on our results, we discuss the meaning of “the place of their own” in campus life and attempt to clarify some aspects of the current support methods.
