豊田市の中山間地域における高齢者の生活環境に関する調査研究

Abstract

In towns and villages of remote mountainous regions there is a growing percentage of senior citizens in the population and are even in the majority in some rural communities due to the flow of younger and middle aged population into urban regions. It seems many seniors , as well as the middle aged people who support them wish to continue their autonomous living in their own houses in the rural regions where they are accustomed to be and enjoy a tightly knit web of communication with there neighbors. However, seniors often face difficulty in the upkeep of their household, especially during the winter time. This survey aims to obtain data to help improve the living environment of the senior citizens to make it more worth living through questionnaire surveys on their present living conditions, their residential environment, and their way of life during the winter time as well as how to establish and live an independent life in the future. The survey was conducted in a mountainous area of the Toyota region where the percentage of seniors is quite high.
