Abstract: Studied herein is the effect of restoring force characteristics on the dynamic interaction of pier-isolated bearing system. In the isolation design, it is required to increase energy dissipation performance and to elongate natural period using isolated bearing. The bridge system is simply modeled into two degrees-of-freedom system allowing the sway of structure. Dynamic response analysis have performed to investigate yield load ratio between pier and isolated bearing. From this analysis, it is found that, the yield load ratio and energy absorption ratio which will be able to use energy absorption performance of isolated bearing most efficiently. Finally this study shows an idea of reasonable design concept of steel bridge pier with isolated bearing.
