Abstract: Many unmanned trucks are used for a carrier system in automatic factories. When unmanned trucks are driven on the passage of work-peoples, a safety device for preventing collisions is necessary. A new type of collision avoidance sensor was studied, which was simple device composed of a semiconductor laser and a CCD camera. It could detect in wide range, but it could not detect in high luminance. Then the sensor is improved to detect in high luminance, using the laser beam focused the narrow line. The sensor selects the laser light in the extraneous light by the beam width. This sensor can detect an obstacle in the extraneous light of 4000[lx].
