抄録: Steel bridge piers are used for the expressway or railroad viaducts in the city area. After huge earthquake these expressways will be expected to the emergency transportation road. It is important to investigate the safety of bridges and categorize the damage level to decide repair method，especially correspond to the aftershocks and linked earthquakes. However，until now，the bridge design code have no guideline adopted to judgment of damage level and repair. In this study，incremental cyclic loading experiments have been performed to obtain the load-displacement relationship and damage shape. And static FEM analysis for steel bridge pier with concrete for corrosion protection on the base have also been performed. From these results，the initial inspection method will be proposed，which will be able to judge the damage level of bridges in after earthquake.</description>

抄録: "Fiber-form nanostructure on tungsten surface induced by helium plasma exposure found for the first time by the author has a fuzzy surface morphology so that the physical mechanism on its growth is widely attracted by many researchers in addition to a new worry in plasma-surface interaction in magnetic confinement fusion energy development. Experimental, theoretical and numerical simulation approaches are developed in these more than ten years. However, we do not obtain definitive explanation for this interesting phenomenon. The author has developed a special experimental technique ?flux gradient method ? which converts time evolution of growth to a spatial extension on substrate. It reveals that a loop-like structure would be a precursor for fuzz formation on tungsten as well as molybdenum surfaces. The importance of shear modulus of tungsten with helium content and its temperature dependence was identified as an essential key for fiber-form nanostructure formation. The meaning of temperature band for the formation is discussed, pointing out a competition between formation and annihilation of fibers near the upper limit of temperature band for the formation."</description>

抄録: "Pyrolytic carbon (pyrocarbon) was infiltrated into the porous carbon substrate {sample (A)} and the TiN-coated porous carbon substrate {sample (B)} using pressure-pulsed chemical vapor infiltration technique. The sort of substrates affected the nano-structure of pyrocarbon. Pyrocarbon in sample (A) had the relatively high crystallinity and laminar structure, whereas pyrocarbon in sample (B) was disordered. The capacity of pyrocarbon in sample (B) was higher than that of sample (A), reflecting the disordered structure of pyrocarbon film (B). However, sample (A) showed higher Coulombic efficiency at first cycle (i.e. 87 %) than that of sample (B), which would result from the high crystallinity, laminar structure and low surface area of pyrocarbon in sample (A)."</description>

抄録: Many general education students either enter the program with an inadequate foundation of basic academic skills or， over the course of their studies，lose some of those basic fundamentals through lack of reinforcement. What is necessary ensure the success of these students? It is the author's belief that an effective curriculum must not only provide high-level technical instruction but must also adopt three additional elements with active student involvement. These three elements are as follows : (1) Learn how to clearly and concisely communicate to others. (2) Learn critical comprehension skills (e.g. the ability to dissect truth and meaning from mass marketed and potentially biased media outlets). (3) Reinforce fundamental academic skills (i.e. review of elementary and secondary education lessons).</description>
