抄録: When we go into a new environment, it impose both change and challenge. While most people can turn it into opportunity, some people are crushed with anxiety or loneliness. In this study, we asked college students to describe the factors contributing to their comfort at home. The comfort at home should effects on the comfort at college. Based on results, we discuss how we can support the efforts made by college students to adjust to college life.

抄録: Plasma energy transmission property through the sheath in front of the tungsten plate is studied for the virgin and nanostructured tungstens in helium plasma with two electron temperature components. It is found that the energy transmission factor for non-defected virgin tungsten is roughly a half of that for nanostructured black-color tungsten. The theory for the energy transmission factor for two electron temperature plasma is developed including secondary electron emission and ion energy reflection coefficient, and is compared with experimental result.

抄録: Since HYOGOKEN-NANBU Earthquake in 1995, a large number of researches on the seismic performance of steel bridge pier have been carried out. However, there is very few research for the repair method of the steel bridge pier that has been damaged in earthquake. The research on how to repair severely damaged steel bridge pier has been conducted by the authors, but the repair effect for the steel bridge pier that suffered minor damage has not been revealed. In this study, the repairing effect of filling concrete for circular steel bridge piers which have different degrees of damage is to be verified. First, four damage levels were assumed from general load-deflection relationship. Static cyclic loading tests until reaching their predetermined damage levels were conducted. After filling the concrete inside the specimens, the same static cyclic loading tests were carried out to clarify the seismic performance of repaired piers.

抄録: We know that children who were born profoundly deaf have much difficulty to learn to speak English or Japanese. But is it possible that profoundly deaf children learn to read written English or Japanese? Some researchers mention that early exposure to fingerspelling actually helps deaf children become better readers. Then I tried to find the reason why fingerspelling helps deaf children develop their reading ability and examined how to develop deaf children’s reading ability with fingerspelling. I concluded that fingerspelling is not an alphabet spelling but a sort of sign language for deaf children and they can master fingerspelled expressions as their native language which means a naturally effortlessly acquired language.
