抄録: The guard fence in the road is one of important equipment that can prevent vehicles from running outside the road when they have deviated from the normal direction. It also can enhance the security of passengers, decreasing the damage of the vehicles and goods on it. So we should ensure the guard fences designed that have enough strength to avoid rupture form the shock by high-speed vehicles and also have enough plasticity to absorb shocking energy for lightening the damage of the people and vehicle. At present, the replacing and repairing of guard fences cost a great deal of money and time and effect the daily traffic badly because it is easily damaged. The purpose of the thesis is to develop a new type of guard fence that can satisfy the request of strength and plasticity and can be replaced and repaired easier and cheaper.</description>

抄録: On June 15th, 1999 erthquke of Tehuacan of magunitude 6.7 occurred in the central region of Mexico. The epicenter was located approximately 20km SW of Tehuacan city. The earthquake caused 17 deaths and 197 casualities in villages in the state of Puebla and Oaxaca. In the city of Puebla (state capital), many historical churches and structures were damaged. The auther surveyed the damages in the Puebla city three months after the earthquake. The detail of the damages are shown in this report.</description>

抄録: The thermonic converter is one of direct generation, and it has many advantages. But the high operating temperature makes shortening of emitter's life. When the thermonic converter is irradiated by a light, the higher output current is obtained at the relatively lower emitter temperature. But it has not been understood why the output of the thermonic converter increased by the light irradiation. So the distribution of electric potential between the electrodes was theoretically analyzed. The potential distribution was calculated by integrating Poisson's equation. As a result of the calculation, it was seen that the photo-ionized electric charge made the potential barrier a sharp degrease. It was able to analyze quantitatively the output increase of the light irradiated thermonic converter.</description>

抄録: A new type of fluid depth-velocity-meter using the principle of Henri de Pitot was examined in a river during high-water. Velocity distribution of a section just downstream of a bridge was obtained. The disturbance of flow velocity by the bridge pier was observed, as well as the river bed excavation during the flood. The difference of flow rates estimated by this measurement and by the popular method using floats was discussed.</description>
