抄録: We deal here with the problem how variation in average storm rainfall over mountainous basin is caused by the number of rain-gages installed in those area. Two methods-Thiessen polygon method and isohyetal method-are compared as regard to computation of average rainfall. Also examined is the relation between the point rainfall and areal-average rainfall over a drainage basin which varies with the size of the governing area when a single rain-gage is located in the basin. In these cases a single storm is taken as a unit of rainfall. The total runoff is computed for each single storm, and the relation between areal-average rainfall and total runoff is taken into account.</description>

抄録: It would be predicted and has been practically planned that the design method of concrete structures in our country, Japan, would transfer from allowable stress design method to limit state design method, in the near future. We deem that for establishing the new design method, it would be necessarily needed that we should compare it with the allowable stress design method currently enforced, and we should widely checck its merits and demerits, on many various points of view as possible as. Here, in this paper we have practiced to investigate the safety in the ultimate limit state of singly reinforced rectangular section, which is designed with allowable stress design method enforced currently, considering the relationships between both of the two that, 1) the ultimate resistance moment of singly reinforced rectangular section, and 2) the resisting moment of the section by the allowable stress design method.</description>

抄録: Many kinds of sorting algorithms have been developed from the age of Punched Card System. Nowadays, any sorting algorithm can be called either (1) internal sorting methed or (2) external sorting method. Internal sorting method is used only when the number of records to be sorted (N) is not so large for the internal memory of the computer system. Larger memory space has become available with the aid of semiconductor technology. Therefore, it might be desired to develop a new internal sorting methed which works efficiently for very large N on the computer with huge internal memory space. This study investigated the internal sorting algorithm which works well when N is very large. The sorting algorithm presented in this study is developed for designing and constructing a data base system, such as marketing-research data base. The algorithm could be called a kind of radix-sorting method which starts at the most significant digit (MSD). After presenting the algorithms and associated programs written in BASIC language, suggestions for improving these algorithms are made. It is concluded that MSD-first radix-sorting method could be one of the most powerfull and applicable sorting methods in the near future.</description>

抄録: As the second report on the strength characteristics of compacted Kanto-Loam. thixotropic strength regain after roller compaction was studied in this paper. A series of laboratory tests were performed to invesitigate the influences of compaction energy and water content on the characteristics of strength regain for two different Kanto-Loams. Some discussions were then made on the use of laboratory results for the quality contrtol of an earth dam.</description>
